Sager Classical Academy is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as our Chapel Director for the 2023-2024 school year.

Scope of Work

  1. Spiritual Leadership

  • Consistently exhibits by precept and example the fruits of the Spirit and spiritual maturity, serving as a Christian role model both in and out of school to pupils.

  • Sets an example for parents and fellow faculty members in speech, action, attitude, judgment, dignity, and respect, while living in obedience to God’s Word by demonstrating a consistent daily walk with Jesus Christ and His people.

  • be an effective communicator, eager to listen and instruct in the ways of godliness.

 

  1. Worship Direction

  • Integrates biblical principles and SCA’s philosophy of education throughout the service.

  • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of and an interest inworship.

  • Maintains the student’s active interest in the Bible lesson.

  • Uses clear language and vocabulary appropriate to the level of the students.

  • Plans lessons and service ahead of time for each week and for the year-long program.

  1. Non-Instructional 

  • Provides an orderly environment.

  • Keeps students, parents and the Administration adequately informed of deficiencies and gives suggestions for improvement.

  • Maintains a clean, attractive and well-ordered space.

  • Fulfills morning duties as assigned.

  • Attends and participates in mandatory faculty meetings.

  • Seeks the counsel of the administrator, colleagues and parents.

  • Takes advantage of training opportunities and seeks out information for professional development.

  • Continues to improve in content knowledge and the art of worship.

  • Demonstrates good stewardship of time, including the time of others, by being present at school for the contracted hours, being punctual for duties and starting and ending chapel on time.

  • Projects a positive professional and respectful attitude toward others, including students, parents, the school Board, the Administration, Faculty and Staff.

  • Exercises proper discretion in matters such as confidential information and personal opinions or concerns about school operations, students or Staff, including adherence to the SCA Student Handbook.

Qualifications: Must pass a background investigation. Bachelor’s degree or equity of experience in presenting the Gospel to students in grades K-12; agreement with and support of the school’s Statement of Faith; strong commitment to Christian education. Direct experience with the Classical Model of education in previous roles either as a student or teacher is preferred but not required.

Sager Classical Academy is seeking a cheerful and service-oriented person to serve as an Aide to our operations staff for the remainder of the 2022-2023 school year. This position encompasses a number of activities and is an excellent opportunity for Education majors who may be interested in learning about private schools, particularly one that is in its infancy and is growing. This is also an excellent opportunity for someone who has homeschooled their own children in the past or someone who has other educational experience.

Position Description Summary: Duties are primarily maintenance related but may encompass some teaching time, facilities maintenance and operations support.

In summary, Aides:

  • Are directly responsible for facilities support such as cleaning bathrooms, helping to set up traffic cones for drop-off and pickup, and sanitizing common areas. They may also be asked to provide one-on-one assistance for specific students as needed. May provide first aid to students as needed, such as applying a band-aid or waiting with a child whose parent is coming to pick them up during school hours. Print or copy materials for staff.
  • May be offered additional hours as a substitute if desired by the Aide.

Compensation: Rate of pay is $11.00 / hour for 20 hours / week; this is a temporary position through the end of the semester.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday
Start date: Position will begin immediately upon mutual agreement of the selection of the most qualified candidate.

Sager Classical Academy (SCA) is a Christian, classical school in Siloam Springs, AR. ​​​SCA has grown 250% from our first year of 2018-19. As we enter our 5th year, we are seeking a dynamic and motivated director of advancement to lead the development department, strategy, initiatives, and partner relationships on behalf of the school.

This is a new position and will report​ ​to​ ​the Board of Directors and work closely with the ​Head of School (HOS).

This ​​is​​ a ​​full-time, ​​year-round​ ​position​ and includes benefits.

Scope
Directing SCA’s development strategy and department functions

  • Manage direct reports and contract service vendors (i.e. grants, consultants, etc.)
  • Strategically implement a defined donor cycle with identified audiences including current families, grandparents, alumni, alumni families, grant writing/foundations, and external friends
  • Lead special projects such as capital campaigns, special funding projects, corporate sponsorship development, and annual report
  • Engage in professional development and networking

Partner Stewardship

  • Major donor relationship focus including account planning, meetings, and communications with identified partners (solicitation, cultivation, stewardship)

Stakeholder Management

  • Senior staff team collaboration, working with HOS office, task force initiatives as needed
  • Board of Trustees relations including development board reports and updates
  • Advancement committee (approximately 4 meetings per year)

Oversight and Set Strategy

  • Annual Fund
  • Events
  • Communication (website, social media, videos, emails, donor cycle for all audiences)
  • Development office administration (budget, reconciling with accounting, CRM/data management, acknowledgement letters, etc.)

Biology Teacher: This position is for five hours a week from 8:25 to 9:15 am with a longer class period for labs on Fridays. Sager Classical Academy (SCA) is a shared-responsibility school offering classical, Christian education in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. The teachers are the heart of our academy, bringing to life our curriculum, which centers on the true, good, and beautiful. Each classroom is intentionally small with an average of 12 students, so that teachers have the opportunity to create relationships in which they can pursue wisdom alongside their students. Our lower school grammar (K-6th) will spend 16 hours per week instructing, while our upper school grammar (7th-12th) teachers may have between 20-24 hours per week of instruction with students. SCA invests in our teachers with professional development opportunities and financial incentives for consecutive years of work.
Our school is a 5 day-a-week, half-day model; depending on the class being taught, teachers work Monday through Friday between 8:30 am and 12:30 pm for K-5th.  The 6th grade teacher will teach between 8:30 am and 2:30 pm, Monday through Thursday with a half day from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm on Fridays. Teachers are required to attend school functions, professional development and administrative meetings which will usually occur outside of those hours.

The above qualifications apply, however an appropriate combination of education and experience may substitute for candidates who have not completed their Bachelor’s degree.

Applicant is to hold, be pursuing, or have an academic reputation equivalent to a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree in a relevant field of study from an approved college or university. The employee is to show a respectable capacity to work with colleagues, set and implement curricula, teach with order and decorum, and uphold both personally and professionally the principles of a classical Christian education.

Theological Criteria:
Administrators, teachers, along with parents, students, and academy board members, are to confess and hold to SCA’s ten-point statement of faith and its mission statement. Likewise, the employee is to be a member in good standing at a local, Christian church approved by the school board and administration.
